Sex Counseling
Center : FAQs |
| FAQ |
What
kinds of problems do you treat?
Problems range from general social anxieties to
specific sexual
disorders like erection disorders, PE,
retarded ejaculation. Problems of inexperience,
fear of intimacy, and lack of desire are also
addressed.
How can Sex Therapy resolve my sex problem?
Sex therapy does not, itself, resolve sexual disorder
problems. It is a unique vehicle for you to resolve
your own problem. During therapy, you learn individual
strategies that can diminish symptoms and improve
self-esteem.
What kind of people go to Sex Therapy?
Every kind. Sexual problems are very democratic.
All ages, educational backgrounds, income levels,
nationalities, and even, famous celebrities have
sexual concerns.
What are the qualifications of the sex
therapists at Abel 2 Sex
Counseling Center?
All clinicians are certified clinical sexologists.
They are either fellows or diplomates of the American
Board of Sexology as well as the American Psychotherapy
Association. This is in addition to their individual
credentials in the field of psychology (eg. PhD,
EdD, MSW, LCSW).
What is a surrogate?
A member of a therapeutic team consisting of a
therapist, client and surrogate partner. The surrogate
acts as a substitute partner for those individuals
in therapy without partners. The intent of the
relationship is NOT to provide sexual pleasure;
but, to build client skills & esteem through
experiences in the areas of physical and emotional
intimacy.
What is surrogate therapy?
It is the principle mode of treatment for a man
who doesn't have a willing partner to join him
in therapy. One needs a sex partner to resolve
a sexual problem. Without surrogate
partners, there is no effective alternative
for single people without partners. Would it not
be cruel to suggest single person to remain dysfunctional
until such time as they have a willing partner
to go to therapy with them?
How does a surrogate program work?
Working under the supervision, and in cooperation
with a Board Certified Clinical Sexologist, the
surrogate and the client privately engage in one-to-one
body-focused therapy. The process promotes the
integration of mind and body with the emotions.
Under the guidance of these women, men have been
able to lose their virginity, become better lovers,
acquire ejaculation control, sustain arousal,
and finally, trust enough to experience joy and
abandonment.
Will the surrogate be attractive?
Yes, but not so much that you feel intimidated.
A bonus, they are also sincere, patient, and caring.
What are the backgrounds of the surrogate
therapists?
Contrary to the portrayal in the media, sex surrogates
are not prostitutes. They do not provide sexual
services. Most prostitutes would not be good surrogates.
Sex surrogates are professionally trained clinicians
who act as substitute partners for people who
are in certified sex therapy programs. A legitimate
surrogate therapist will only work under the supervision
of a certified clinical sexologist. Surrogates
will have college degrees. Frequently, they are
graduates students in the field of sexology.
Is it safe?
Under the medical supervision of our doctor, all
clients and surrogates are tested for sexually
transmitted diseases. Safe sex practices are discussed
and taught. Therapy is conducted with the utmost
confidentiality. Privacy is assured.
Is it expensive?
Fees vary according to a variety of factors, including
the length of treatment and the type of problem.
Most of our clients, including those of modest
means, find it affordable. |
